As you will read, it has been an extremely busy half-term at St Bede’s with numerous trips, events and fixtures across all year groups. As always, the feedback from staff and the public have been overwhelmingly positive in regards to the conduct and interaction of our pupils.
Once again can I thank Father Brian for his weekly presence in school in supporting our pupils’ spiritual journey through St Bede’s. Along with his lunchtime visits, Father delivered a Lenten service to all year groups on Wednesday.
One new endeavour for us this year was entry to the Youth Speaks competition. After regional success, our pupils competed in the North of England finals in Cheshire last weekend. Can I thank Miss Barras and all the pupils for representing the school with such distinction. To come 7th out of a field of 90 is a fantastic achievement.
I am sure anyone who had the privilege to watch our school production of Sister Act would agree, it was four extraordinary evenings. The dedication, enthusiasm and talent of the both pupils and staff was phenomenal. We all look forward to hearing the details of what is in the pipeline for next year.
If any parent, carer or member of the local parish would be interested in becoming a Foundation Governor of St Bede’s, please refer to the link below. Should this be of interest and you would like further details please contact Mrs Dudgeon after the Easter holidays.

Having received just under 600 applications, the school has now offered the families of Year 6 pupils the 218 school places available for September 2026. We look forward to seeing our prospective new pupils on their transition days in early July.
I am sure everyone would like to join me in thanking our departing staff, Miss Hanslod and Miss Witchell, for their invaluable contributions to St Bede’s and to wish them all the very best for the future.
Finally, can I thank you for your continued partnership and for all that you do to uphold the values that make our community so special. On behalf of the Governors, the staff and myself, can I wish every family a relaxing, holy and enjoyable Easter holiday.
