FOUNDATION GOVERNOR VACANCY

Required for September 2024

The Governors are seeking to appoint a Foundation Governor.

Foundation Governors play an important part in maintaining and developing the Catholic character of schools.

Governors do not need any formal qualifications – having appropriate relevant skills and experience, an interest in education, a commitment to prepare for and attend meetings, conduct school visits and attend training are as important.

To be a Foundation Governor you must be over 18 and a practicing Catholic. As part of the self-nomination process, you will need to give the contact details of your parish priest who can verify this.

Food and Nutrition Teaching Assistant

Level 3, Grade E

Hours of work 32.5per week 7.45am to 3.25pm.

£19,518 to £21,603 for 32.5 hours per week, Term Time

Required for September 2024, fixed term for 12 months

A new curriculum subject of Food and Nutrition is to be taught at the school from September in a new fully equipped purpose-built teaching room.   To help with the delivery of this subject a new role is being created as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant. The role is being advertised on a 12-month basis initially with a view to becoming permanent. We may be able to negotiate slightly on the start and finish times but these must be starting no later than 8am and finishing no sooner than 3.10pm.  The overall working hours must equal 32.5 hours.  If the role is made permeant in the future the hours are likely to increase to 37hours per week.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and keen to help this new subject area run smoothly and at all times safely.

Your days will be very varied from assisting in the delivery of some theory lessons and all practical lessons to washing up, weighing ingredients, ordering stock and everything in between.  In the absence of the Food and Nutrition teacher you would be expected to deliver the planned lesson.  You will assist with the adaptation of lessons to differentiate for pupils needs and you may also assist when needed with general cover in other areas of the school.  You may also be involved in the assessment and marking of pupil’s work.

Health and safety, stock management and preparation of resources is a big part of this role.  You will help with the ordering of food stocks, the safe storage of items and the preparation of resources and food needed for each practical lesson.  You will help to ensure the working areas are clean ready for the next lesson.

You will be required to complete as a minimum food hygiene and allergens courses.
