The aim of assessment is to inform teaching and learning. Every department uses a variety of formative and summative to build a picture of pupil attainment and progress. Data is collected three times a year and used to look at strengths and weaknesses (areas to improve), progress and setting.
Each year the parent of every pupil receives an assessment of attainment and attitude, a written report and has the opportunity to speak to teachers at a parents evening. These are spread out throughout the school year so that there is one contact opportunity each term.
